EU Authorized Representative for Products under the Low Voltage Directive (2014/35/EU)
Electrical equipment sold in the European Union must comply with the Low Voltage Directive (2014/35/EU) to ensure that products meet essential electrical safety requirements. The directive aims to ensure that electrical products placed on the EU market do not present risks such as electric shock, overheating, fire hazards, or mechanical dangers resulting from electrical faults.
Non-EU manufacturers of LVD-regulated products must appoint an EU-based Authorized Representative to support documentation access and cooperation with EU Market Surveillance Authorities.

Scope of the Low Voltage Directive
Electrical Safety Requirements for Consumer and Industrial Products
The Low Voltage Directive applies to electrical equipment designed for use with voltage ratings between 50–1000 volts AC or 75–1500 volts DC. Typical product categories include:
Household Appliances
Power Supplies and Adapters
Lighting Equipment
Electrical Tools
Heating Equipment
The manufacturer is fully responsible for product safety, testing, and conformity assessment under the LVD. Manufacturers must maintain technical documentation demonstrating conformity with the Low Voltage Directive. This documentation must be available to EU Market Surveillance Authorities upon request.
Manufacturers outside the EU must appoint an Authorized Representative based in the to fulfill the directive’s representation obligations before placing their products on the EU market.

Electric Shock Risk
Inadequate insulation or exposed conductive components can allow users to come into contact with live electrical parts.

Insufficient Protective Earthing
Missing or poorly designed grounding systems may prevent safe dissipation of electrical faults.
Inadequate Electrical Insulation
Insulation materials that degrade under heat or mechanical stress may allow current leakage.
Incomplete Electrical Safety Testing
Products may be placed on the market without full electrical safety testing under harmonized standards such as EN 60335 or EN 60950 / EN 62368.
The Authorized Representative under the LVD
Under the Low Voltage Directive, the Authorized Representative acts on behalf of the manufacturer for defined administrative and regulatory tasks. These tasks are focused on ensuring that EU authorities can identify a responsible EU contact and access required compliance documentation when needed.
The Authorized Representative must be able to:
Documentation & EU Declaration Access
Provide technical documentation and the EU Declaration of Conformity upon request.
Corrective Action Support
Support corrective actions when non-compliance is identified.
Authority Communication & Cooperation
Cooperate with market surveillance authorities.
Scope of the LVD
EARP’s Role as Authorized Representative
EARP acts as an independent EU Authorized Representative for manufacturers placing electrical equipment on the EU market under the Low Voltage Directive. As your appointed EU AR, we will:
Be identified on product labeling or packaging as your EU contact
Forward authority requests and supporting responses to compliance inquiries
Hold and provide Declarations of Conformity (DoC) and technical documentation upon request
Cooperate with EU authorities in case of safety or interference-related investigations
Maintain documentation access for the legally required period
Independent and Compliance-Focused
